The construction of the first desalinization plant in the Mexican state of Sonora is nearing completion at the Tucson, Arizona-based Offshore Group's Bellavista Industrial Park in Empalme.
Empalme is located on the Gulf of California's Sonora coast. When the facility is operational it will supply 75,000 gallons/day of water for industrial use to The Offshore Group's manufacturing firm clientele. The company is the largest provider of comprehensive industrial support (shelter) services in Mexico to firms in the automotive, aerospace, medical device, optics and electronics industries. The desalinization plant is being built by Vivendi Universal's US Filter division.
HP IN JALISCO
Hewlett Packard has four subcontracted service centers throughout the world, one of which is in the state of Jalisco where the Asci Company develops software and firmware for printers, copy machines, monitors, and diagnostic machines. "Here in Mexico we are the leaders in the area of Firmware, which is software attached to chips, and currently we are working on more than 15 different projects with Hewlett Packard," explained the general director of Asci, Genaro Fernandez.
The relationship between the companies continued growing, and HP finally selected Asci to provide research and development services. Although there are over 100 software companies in Jalisco, Asci has found a niche, making it unique among its competitors.
