Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)
Between 1994 and 1999, cumulative FDI in Aguacalientes reached $200 million dollars.  The top investing countries are the U.S., Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Brazil and the Netherlands.  By 1999, 19 companies with foreign investment were established in the state.  In addition, by the end of 1999, 105 maquiladoras set up operations, mainly in the apparel sector.  There are seven industrial park development areas in the state offering key infrastructure and utility services. 

Aguascalientes offers many key benefits for foreign investment operations including labor stability (no strikes in the last 30 years), government support of educational necessities, government support to entrepreneurial activities, leading ranked state nationwide for public safety, excellent climate conditions, and easy market access.  In fact, the state represents 5% of total foreign investment attraction to the country of Mexico.
